Ask Claude about your notes, and mark up what you clip

πŸ’¬

Claude can search and read your notes

Turn on Connect to Claude in the ☁ panel, add Easy Note as a connector in Claude, and you can ask things like β€œwhat did I write down about the Lisbon trip?”. Claude searches your notes, and reads the one it needs β€” headings, lists and tables come across as plain, readable text.

πŸŒ…

What is due today, for a morning briefing

Claude can list your reminders β€” what is already due, what falls today, what is coming this week β€” in your own time zone, so a scheduled morning briefing knows what to put first. It works with Chrome closed too: it then reads the copy Google Drive sync keeps, and says how recent that is.

πŸ“₯

…and can drop something into your tray

Ask Claude to keep a line for you and it lands in the Capture tray, like a clip β€” unfiled, until you drag it onto a page. Claude only ever adds. It cannot edit, move or delete a note.

πŸ”’

Off until you turn it on, and your notes are not kept

The switch is off by default, and while it is off nothing is connected. When it is on, a small relay passes Claude's request to your notes and the answer back β€” from your open browser, or, with Chrome closed, from your own Google Drive copy. It does not store or log what is in them. It keeps an encrypted sign-in to your Easy Note folder in Drive for that, and deletes it the moment you switch the feature off. Claude can only add to your tray while Chrome is open. The privacy policy has the details.

✏️

Mark up a clip before you save it

Drag a box with βŒ₯⇧S and the bar that appears now has a pen, a highlighter, arrows, numbered steps, text and a blur for hiding something, in colours you pick, with undo and redo. Save puts the clip in your tray; Download keeps a copy as a file.

πŸ”€

Copy the words out of a clip

When a clipped region has writing in it, a Copy text button appears and puts the words on your clipboard. They are read on your own computer; nothing about the picture is sent anywhere. In the gallery, the same words can be selected and copied straight off the picture, and a Download button saves it.

↙️

Resize a note from either corner

The bottom-left corner stretches a note now, as well as the bottom-right, and so does a note floating over a page. Sums learn % for a remainder and ** for a power.

πŸ”“

The lock is retired

Notes you had locked are now ordinary notes: you can move, resize and delete them like any other. A note you locked in an earlier version is still never shared with Claude.

πŸ”—

How to connect

Sign in with Google in the ☁ panel, turn on Connect to Claude, and copy the address it shows. In Claude, go to Settings β†’ Connectors, add a custom connector with that address, and sign in with the same Google account. Needs Chrome 116 or newer.

New in 3.4

Reminders that reach you, and a board that starts somewhere

πŸ””

Reminders, even with no tab open

A reminder that comes due is now a notification from Chrome, whether or not Easy Note is open. Click it and a tab opens on the note. Chrome asks once, the first time you set one β€” say no and reminders work as before, on the board. There is also Now, and a Remind me right under every note.

πŸ”

Tap Space to see everything

Search opens with a tap of Space and lists every note before you type β€” recent first, or your reminders, or A–Z. Typing narrows whichever list you are on. Pick one and the board takes you to it, and the note hops so you can see which.

πŸ“

A board with a corner

Every page now starts at its top-left corner and grows right and down, like paper. You can no longer drift off in every direction and lose where you started, and Esc takes you back to it at the zoom you are on β€” so the 🏠 button is gone. Boards you already have are moved in whole, nothing rearranged.

πŸ—‚οΈ

Lists, tables, and undo

Put notes in a list that keeps them in order, add a table to a note a row at a time, and undo or redo anything you did to the board. Copied notes paste back as notes, colour and all. Type / in a note to put a timer down right beside it, or a sum like 120*0.15 to see its answer and Tab it in.

New in 3.3

Every picture on the board, and the words inside them

πŸ–ΌοΈ

Double-click a picture to open it

It fills the screen, and every other picture in every note is behind it β€” newest first, wherever it lives. Arrow keys to look through them, Esc to come back out.

πŸ”€

Copy the text out of a photograph

A screenshot of an error, a photo of a whiteboard, a receipt β€” the words on them are read on your own machine, and then you can select them straight off the picture, or take the lot with one button. Nothing is uploaded anywhere.

πŸ“

Always a way back to the note

Each picture says which page it lives on and when that note was last written in. ⏎ takes you to it, opening the page if it is not the one you are on.

πŸ“

A quieter note

A note can now be as short as the one line it holds, the "type here" prompt is gone from every empty note, and the heading sizes go properly big. A maximised note has room to breathe.

New in 3.2

Clip anything, file it later, and a board that stays out of your way

βœ‚οΈ

Clip any part of any page

Press βŒ₯⇧S on any web page, drag a box round what you want, and it is saved with the page it came from. No new tab, no copy and paste, no losing your place.

πŸ—‚οΈ

A tray for things you have not filed yet

Clips land in a strip along the bottom rather than somewhere on a page you would have to go looking for. Drag one onto the board when you know where it belongs. When the tray is empty it is not there at all.

πŸŒ—

Dark mode

Light, dark, or whatever your system is set to. It applies before the page draws, so a new tab at night never flashes white at you.

🏠

Every page has a home

Hold the 🏠 button to say where a page should open. Click it, press Esc, or click the page's name again to get back there from wherever you have wandered. Since 3.4 every page starts at its corner, and those take you there instead.

πŸ“„

Carry a note to another page and put it down

Hold a note over a page in the sidebar and that page opens underneath it, so you can drop it exactly where you want rather than posting it into a page you cannot see. Esc calls it off.

πŸ””

Pages tell you what is waiting

A page holding something that has come due shows a quiet count. Click it to step through them one at a time. Nothing hops, flashes or nags.

New in 3.1

Reminders, a real editor, and a board that gets out of the way

πŸ””

Reminders

Give a note a time β€” 15 minutes, an hour, or one you pick β€” and when it comes round the note hops to catch your eye. If it is on another page, that page's name hops instead. Click the reminder to dismiss it.

✍️

Notes you can write in properly

Bullet lists, numbered lists, checkboxes and headings, all by typing: -  1.  []  # . Select any text and a small bar appears with bold, italic, links and sizes.

🎨

Cleaner notes

Notes start with no fill at all β€” just text on the board β€” and there are eighteen colours when you want one. A note's buttons appear above it only while you are working in it.

πŸ“‹

Paste straight onto the board

Copy anything, press ⌘V on empty canvas, and it becomes a note where your cursor is β€” text, links and images alike.

What's new

Four things worth opening a new tab for

☁️

Google Drive sync

Sign in with Google and your notes follow you to every computer you use Chrome on.

πŸ—’οΈ

Infinite canvas

The board never runs out. Pan around it, zoom in and out, and fit everything back on screen with one click.

πŸ—‚οΈ

Pages

Keep work, shopping and side projects on separate boards β€” and nest pages inside pages.

How to

Turn on Google Drive sync

Your notes normally stay on the computer you wrote them on. Sign in and they're kept in step across all of them.

  1. Open a new tab and look at the buttons in the bottom-right corner.
  2. Click the cloud button ☁A small panel opens showing your sync status.
  3. Choose β€œSign in with Google” and pick your account.Google will ask permission once. Easy Note only ever gets its own private folder.
  4. That's it.Notes sync straight away, then every couple of minutes. β€œSync now” forces it, and the panel always shows when it last ran.

What Easy Note can and can't see

Notes go into a private folder that belongs to the extension. It doesn't appear in your Drive, and Easy Note cannot open, read or touch any of your other files. To stop syncing, click Sign out β€” your notes stay on the computer.

How to

Move around the canvas

A page starts at its top-left corner and goes on as far right and down as you like. Spread notes out β€” you'll always be able to get back to them, and to where you started.

  1. Add a note by double-clicking any empty spot.
  2. Move around by scrolling, or hold Space and drag the board.
  3. Zoom with ⌘ or Ctrl and the scroll wheel, or pinch on a trackpad.Zooming follows your cursor, so you land on what you were looking at.
  4. Lost a note? Click Fit in the bottom-right and everything on the page comes back into view.
How to

Organise notes into pages

One endless board is great until work and groceries end up side by side. Pages give each a board of its own.

  1. Click + at the top of the page list to make a new page, then type its name and press Enter.
  2. Make a sub-page by hovering a page and clicking its own +.Nest them as deep as you need β€” click the little arrow to fold a branch away.
  3. Move notes between pages by dragging a note onto a page in the list.Select several first and they all move together.
  4. Rename by double-clicking a page's name. Delete with the Γ— β€” you'll be asked to confirm, because its notes go too.

Each page remembers where you were

Pan and zoom are saved per page, so coming back to a board puts you exactly where you left it. Hide the whole sidebar with the ☰ button when you want the full screen.

How to

Make a note your own

Right-click a note, or use the β‹― above it, and the colours are right there.

In that menu

  • Colour β€” eighteen swatches for colour-coding a board, starting with no fill at all.
  • Fullscreen β€” click β€’, or double-click the note's bar, to blow it up for proper writing. Esc puts it back exactly where it was.
  • Paste anything β€” text arrives clean, without fonts and colours from the website you copied it from. Screenshots paste straight in.
How to

Tidy a messy board in one click

  1. Drag a box across empty space to select several notes, or hold Shift and click them one by one.
  2. Drag any one of them and the whole group moves together.
  3. Use the toolbar that appears at the top to line them up, space them evenly, or snap them into a neat grid.
  4. ⌘A selects everything, Esc clears the selection, Delete removes it.
How to

Find a note anywhere

  1. Press ⌘F (or click the magnifier). Before you type a thing, it lists the five notes you edited most recently.
  2. Start typing to search every page at once β€” not just the board you're on.
  3. Use ↑ ↓ and Enter, or just click a result.
  4. Easy Note flies you there β€” it opens the right page, highlights the note and zooms in on it.
Upgrading

Already using Easy Note? Your notes come with you

There's nothing to export and nothing to set up. The first time v3 opens, it brings across every note from the old version β€” with bold, italics, headings, lists, links and note colours intact.

Your old notes are left untouched

v3 copies them; it never changes or deletes the originals. If you ever go back to the old version, everything is exactly where you left it.

Good to know

Sync checks for changes every couple of minutes rather than instantly, so give it a moment after editing on another computer β€” or click Sync now. It's built for one person across several machines, not for editing the same note with someone else at the same time.
